Now more than ever, we need public leaders who can apply principles of ethical reasoning to the pressing problems of public policy and management.
Public and nonprofit organizations play increasingly important roles in delivering a wide range of services for the public good, whether through social services, education, child welfare, community development, health and wellness, or the arts.
But officials and leaders of this vast and varied network of organizations face significant challenges: reductions in funding, increased demand for services, and recruitment and retention of qualified professionals and volunteers are but a few of many challenges facing those who toil in the many realms of public service.
Your gift to the Johnson Institute for Responsible Leadership provides support for teaching, research, and public outreach activities that positively impact professional and institutional ethics and accountability in public leadership.
With the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public and International Affairs as its home, the Johnson Institute for Responsible Leadership is unique in its ability to reach current and future public policy officials and nonprofit leaders and to prepare them with the professional knowledge and personal fortitude for a lifetime of ethical public service.
